Great restaurant.  Awesome theme, excellent service.  My daughter and I ordered the lamb dish for her and the spicy meatballs dish for me.  Very good.  Love the ambiance and decorations.  Fun and unique place to visit.

Mummy's is convenient to The Schnitz,  always has room, has an exotic underground Egyptian feel, has fine service, happily accommodates special requests/ substitutions, and has had the same guys in charge for 38 years! The food isn't wonderful, but seems wholesome. (It's hard to believe the sheesh kabobs are really lamb, as they are on the tough side.) But all in all a fine place to refuel before a show.

This is my new favorite place in town. Strange as it may seem, it is the only restaurant I've been to in Portland with what I would call true character. It is about much more than food. It is so peaceful, I feel like I am in not only another country but another era.

The food I have tried is excellent. I always get the baba ganoush and homemade soup. My only complaint is that they serve it with store bought pita bread (as noted in other reviews). I don't know why they also include a couple of slices of American cheese, but I find that to be a humorous touch.

I would be tempted to give five stars just because of the (misunderstood) hate expressed by the previous reviewers, but I would rate it this way anyway!

I understand this establishment has been around for 40 years. The interior is themed with an Ancient Egypt motif. The proprietor is a very nice and attentive old man. You can come here to imagine and appreciate what this restaurant with its '70s era bar must have been like in earlier days. The beer is cold. The bluesy jazzy Grover Washington Jr. music is delightful. The menu is not extensive, and one would expect the dishes to impress. I've been in the restaurant for 45 minutes and I'm the only customer here.

Not a fan! Keep in mind, I only had 1 of the dishes, but that dish (the lamb steak) was horrible. The food here has no (or very little seasoning). Even after adding salt and pepper the food was still less than to be desired. If this is a representation of what I should expect from the cuisine if I were to visit Egypt, I'll be sure to pack my own food on the trip.

Great attentive service by the owner, bad food - especially for a restaurant that has been around as long as this has!

I'm sad because I was excited to try this place. I love middle eastern and African cuisine!
